Weʼre Stolen Gin, a dance-funk quintet from New York City. Weʼre known for our high-energy live act and avid improvisation-we never play songs the same way twice. We first came together playing college parties on NYC rooftops, and our goal then was the same as it is now: to make every gig feel like a party, and to keep people dancing.
Born and raised in the suburbs of Rochester, NY, Taylor Kelly is now a fixture in the vibrant Philadelphia music scene further honing her introspective take on jazz, soul, and funk. She combines her smooth, powerful, technically-informed voice with a full horn section, addictive hip hop and electronic beats, and complex arrangements she writes herself with help from long-time collaborator and trombonist Mike Rilli. Both a vocalist and trumpet player, her sound is a dynamic blend of several established genres: she melds the improvisational looseness of jazz, the rhythmic earworms of funk, and the moving resonance of soul to carve out a niche all her own. Kelly names Stevie Wonder, Chet Baker, Roy Hargrove, Art Farmer, and Erykah Badu as influences, integrating strong melodic contour and intricate harmonies into lyrically personal and sonically anthemic tracks. Kelly is a Berklee College of Music graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Music. Along with her band, she has released five albums/EPs and has shared the stage with Moonchild, Becca Stevens, Monophonics, Neal Francis, Bahamadia, and Georgia Anne Muldrow. She was a finalist in the PHL LIVE Center Stage competition for R&B in 2018, has amassed over half a million listens for her single “California” on streaming platforms worldwide and has uplifted, inspired, and energized thousands of ardent concertgoers at hundreds of live shows with her unabashed authenticity and immersively freeing performance style. Previously, Taylor was the front-woman (Tayoncé) of Jay-Z/Beyonce tribute band For the Record, who had the unbelievable privilege of opening up for Salt N Pepa at Boston's ThrowBBaQ at City Hall in 2014. Kelly has an unyielding, marrow-deep commitment to self expression through music and has continued to transfer this passion to her listeners and live audiences with her EP, ‘All I Need’, which released February 25th 2022.
Based in Athens, Georgia, Wim Tapley came of age playing venues in Washington D.C. and its sprawling suburbs. There, he honed his voice with the passion of a born troubadour, drawing in a diverse fanbase with his easy showmanship and distinct style. Since 2021, Athens has been home to Wim and his live band The Cannons. His first week in the Empire State of the South, Wim made his way onto a local bill, etching a name for himself as a fresh and favorite hometown voice. He is ardently received by his ever-growing following at legendary regional venues like the Georgia Theatre, Eddie’s Attic, and the 40 Watt Club— the latter of which he’s headlined more than once— and on tours across the Southeast, playing ticketed shows in capital cities and SEC university campuses. Firmly rooted in Americana and dashed with glamorous pop sensibilities, the swinging depths of neo-soul, and a sprinkling of riotous horns, Wim’s arresting sound is as fresh as it is ageless, as fevered as it is raucous fun. Ever-inspired by the alchemy that happens on stage, in the studio Wim’s instruments stay live and edges remain raw. A sonic westward expansion of fuzzed-out guitars, saloon pianos, defiant horns, and dusty vocals, his discography blazes a fresh new take on folk-pop while honoring the songwriting giants that paved the way before him like Jason Isbell, Bill Withers, and Chris Stapleton. More than a frontman, Wim is an experienced multi-instrumentalist and producer. On his most recent release The Woodlands he played, recorded, and co-produced every element himself. While capable and compelling as a one-man-band, Wim’s genuine warmth and natural gift for building community compels creative partnerships wherever his feet land. In Athens, he’s migrated his production chops from his bedroom to his label Cannon Records where he produces multiple hometown talents in collaboration with the greatests sound engineers and session artists in Athens. Follow Wim on Spotify and Instagram and never miss out on the musical misadventures of the East Coast’s resident space cowboy.
