BAILEN’s gorgeous harmonies, striking arrangements and evocative songwriting springs from a very deep well. Growing up in NYC, the siblings, David, Daniel (twins!) and Julia Bailen were raised by their professional orchestral musician parents, and the young trio immersed themselves in a record collection that included Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, Carole King and The Band. Their amazing three-part harmonies have been compared to The Staves and Fleet Foxes, however, on their debut album, Thrilled To Be Here, BAILEN have created something all their own. Produced by GRAMMY-Award winner John Congleton (St. Vincent, Manchester Orchestra, The War on Drugs), BAILEN’s shiny gleam and meticulous songcraft combine with the group’s unusual self-awareness, musicality and bite.

Named one of Sofar Sounds’ Artists to Watch in 2018, BAILEN has toured or collaborated with The Lone Bellow, Amos Lee and Joseph, among many others. Modern, melodic and soulful, BAILEN is twisting pop music in new directions, an undeniable, and welcome new arrival.

Brittany Ann Tranbaugh (pronounced TRAN-baw) is an award-winning singer/songwriter based in Philadelphia, PA. Originally from the Lehigh Valley area in PA, she kicked off her music career as a teenager playing at Godfrey Daniels, one of the country’s only remaining bona fide folk listening rooms. She has since performed all over the US and Canada in theaters, living rooms, basements, bars, coffee shops, backyards, and on festival stages including Firefly and Philly Folk Fest.

Close your eyes at a BAILEN show and their sibling harmonies will make you believe there is an entire choir right in front of you. Their music is nostalgic with melodic hooks and a deep soulful quality, all with a modern, youthful perspective. David and Daniel (twins), and their sister Julia have been playing together their whole lives. They started BAILEN in 2014 with their childhood friend Pierre, and have already made an imprint on the music world. Since forming BAILEN, they have starred on London’s West End (Daniel in Close to You), played all over Europe and the United States, and most recently toured Taiwan with Mando-Pop star Yen-J. They are regulars at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City where they recently finished up an unprecedented 40-show residency culminating in the Downtown Comes Uptown series with WFUV at Lincoln Center. They have played The Bowery Ballroom, frequently sing the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden, and have new music coming in 2017. The band has collectively appeared, performed, or collaborated with Burt Bacharach, The Lone Bellow, Joseph, Raul Midon, Diane Birch, Animal Years, American Authors, Pig Pen Theater Co, Morningsiders, AJR, Oh Honey, Alex Clair, The Marcus King Band, Alice Phoebe Lou, Jon Batiste and Stay Human, Bill Withers, and Dianne Reeves.

She has since performed all over the US and Canada in theaters, living rooms, basements, bars, coffee shops, backyards, and on festival stages including Firefly and Philly Folk Fest. Accolades include 2021 Song of the Year in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for her queer country heartbreaker "Kiss You" and finalist spots in the Gems in the Rough, Kerrville New Folk, and LEAF NewSong competitions. In April 2022, she debuted an EP entitled “Quarter Life Crisis Haircut,” her first official release in over a decade. In this new batch of memorable and thoughtfully crafted songs produced by Jackson Emmer, she tackles a wide range of topics including her sixth grade queer awakening, an awkward run-in with an old acquaintance, and the impossibility of true folk music authenticity in this day and age. At times witty and sarcastic, at other times heartbreaking and raw, the EP undoubtedly showcases Tranbaugh’s finest work to date.
