A NEW HOME FOR THE BLUES
World Cafe Live and The Partnership CDC To Announce
Joint Venture For The Greater Philadelphia
Rock Rhythm & Blues Fest
July 12, 2005
At an upcoming joint press conference, the Partnership CDC and World Cafe Live will announce a new name, a new home and a new chapter in the life of the region's most successful Blues Festival. Speaking from the main stage on Tuesday, July 26th, at 10AM in World Cafe Live, located at 3025 Walnut Street, CDC Executive Director Blane Stoddart and World Cafe Live founder Hal Real, will unveil the new identity for the Greater Philadelphia Rock, Rhythm & Blues Fest, to be held in its new permanent home at World Cafe Live this October 7th - 9th.
Now in its ninth year, the festival has expanded its repertoire to include World Music and Latin Jazz, in a diverse program that will include nine events and occupy both of World Cafe Live's two performance stages. A complete roster of performers for this year's festival will be announced at the press conference.
The Partnership CDC is a local non-profit organization dedicated to the provision of affordable housing, job creation and economic development in West and Southwest Philadelphia. Since 1992, The Partnership CDC has developed or co-developed over 340 affordable housing units, counseled over 5,000 families and invested over $60 million dollars in the West Philadelphia community.
The Greater Philadelphia Rock, Rhythm & Blues Fest presented by Commerce Bank, was created in 1997 by the Partnership as a vehicle for generating revenue to further its commitment to revitalizing West Philadelphia. 100% of the funds raised from the festival go directly towards programs. In this way, The Partnership CDC continues to advance its mission by encouraging families to access and utilize the many resources available in the Greater Philadelphia region. This celebration is dedicated to reviving your spirits, and our neighborhoods.
Featuring live music on two stages, fine food and a smoke-free environment, World Cafe Live was built from the ground up to enhance the appreciation of live music. Like the syndicated public radio program for which it is named, WXPN's World Cafe, World Cafe Live presents performances by artists from the leading edge of Rock, Pop, Folk, Country, Blues, Jazz and R&B music. World Cafe Live is located in the historic Hajoca Building at 3025 Walnut Street in Philadelphia , alongside the studios of WXPN where the “World Cafe” radio program is produced. The building is fully wheelchair accessible. For more information, visit www.worldcafelive.com. |
